We finally have some good news! The trial data of the COVAXIN for children in the age group of 2-18 years has been submitted , and the Subject Expert Committee for Covid-19 has given approval for Emergency Use of this vaccine in children. This has to be approved by the DCGI- the final authority in India for providing approvals for use of vaccines and medications. We hope, in the near future, the vaccine will be available for use in children.
The safety of the vaccine is of utmost importance. Trials have shown minor side effects like fever, pain and headache. The antibody levels have also been analysed .
We hope that once all children above 2 years of age get protected with vaccine, we could slow down the pandemic and look at better days ahead.
